Phthalates are commonly used in the candle industry to dissolve raw materials when making fragrance oils. They have been used for many decades in a myriad of pharmaceuticals, household and industrial products. Phthalates are known to damage the
liver, kidneys, lungs, and reproductive system. While both the U.S. and Europe have imposed laws against Phthalates in children’s toys, (since they are put in the mouth) there are no rules against phthalates in candles.
Parabens are a group of artificial preservatives commonly used in cosmetics, personal hygiene products, food products, pharmaceuticals and candles. Parabens can cause harm to your skin, reproductive system and increase the risk of cancer.
